PMCA wins  ZONASA Trophy

The students of the Piloo Mody College of Architecture (PMCA), Cuttack, have added another feather to their hat by winning the much contested Zonal NASA Championship in the Eastern Zone 2016 – consecutively for the fourth year in a row from among over 30 colleges. The Zo NASA 2016, organized by NIT Rourkela, from 13th October – 16th October, 2015 at the NIT Campus, welcomed a delegation of 45 students of PMCA, led by U-Sec, Mr. Ujjwal Singh.

The delegation won a total of 16 trophies in formal events. PMCA put up a stellar performance in all the Design Competitions, namely, Main Design, Landscape and Interior Design by securing the 1st position and secured the 3rd position in the Convention Trophy besides bagging 1st position in the coveted Fashion Trophy. And the team also bagged the 2nd position in the prestigious Reubens Trophy and 3rd position in the Cultural Trophy.

PMCA students shine in Thesis Awards 

Pritam Dey of the 2015 batch of graduates of the college has been adjudged the Zonal topper (Zone 2) at the recently concluded 10th UG Zonal Thesis Awards Programme of NIASA, the academic unit of Council of Architecture. The event saw participation from 16 Architecture colleges from the eastern and central zone. Besides Pritam Dey, two other of our students – Sandipan Chatterjee and Arka Basu of the 2015 batch made it to the top 10 in the preliminary jury of the same event, organised at Om Dayal College of Engineering and Architecture, Uluberia on the 13-Aug-2015.

PMCA excels in Design Competitions at NASA 

NASA ( National Association of Students of Architecture) Convention held from 25th to 28th January 2015. A team of 25 students from Piloo Mody College of Architecture participated at the NASA convention bagging the Juries Choice Award in the REUBENS TROPHY, from amongst 180 colleges and winning the 2nd prize in the prestigious ANDC( Annual NASA Design Competition ) trophy. Piloo Mody College also came in the TOP 11 ENTRIES IN THE NASA LANDSCAPE DESIGN COMPETITION along with the1ST PRIZE IN THE LES QUIZARABLE SPOT EVENT- AN ARCHITECTURAL QUIZ COMPETITION.


ABIT –Piloo Mody College of Architecture, Cuttack witnessed the start of the SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) Chapter on Thursday 13th November 2014. Founded by Dr. Kiran Seth in 1977 at IIT Delhi, SPIC MACAY is a youth voluntary movement promoting intangible aspects of Indian Cultural Heritage.
The Langa Manganiars visiting from Rajasthan came along with a team of artists, namely Bhungar Khan Manganiar on Khartal, Gazi Khan on Vocals, Nehru Khan on Harmonium vocal, Bhuta Khan on Dholak and Din Mohammad on Kamaiccha. The Manganiars and related Langa caste are Muslim communities in the desert of Rajasthan, India, from the districts of Barmer and Jaisalmer along the border with Pakistan. They are famous for their classical folk music. The Manganiar performers traditionally evoke the Hindu God Krishna and seek his blessings. 
The podium in Piloo Mody College of Architecture reverberated to an electrifying hour of Indian Folk Music that created not only a musical high and also experienced the colourful and vibrant flavour of Rajasthan. Students witnessed the larger -than- life Indian travelscape of the folk music genre miles away from its place of origin. 
The artists were felicitated by the Director ABIT Group of Institutions at the end of the performance.


PMCA emerges Champion at ZONASA 

This year the Zonal Convention of National Association of Students of Architecture -    ZONASA-2014, was hosted by NIT, PATNA from 26th to 29th of Sept 2014. The National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA) is a one of its kind student body responsible for hosting of architecture students’ fests at national and zonal level every year. About 1200 students from twenty six different Architecture colleges of the eastern and central zone of the country participated with full zeal and enthusiasm at this zonal edition of NASA and exhibited their talents in various formal and informal events.

The students’ of ABIT - Piloo Mody College of Architecture, Cuttack were declared the Zonal Champions of this grand and colourful event by bagging the first position in Architectural Design events, Interior Design events and most importantly the much coveted Reuben’s Trophy which is the flagship bearer of the academic work of any college.  The college also won the second position in Flag Design and Fashion Trophy events. 
The college also notched up the 1st position in six other formal events to achieve this remarkable victory. B I T , Mesra and I I T, Kharagpur  won the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. 
The last day of the convention, whose theme was ARATRIKA, saw presentations by some of the eminent architects of the country on Green Building Concepts, Aerodynamics in Buildings, Low Energy Consumption and Rain Water Harvesting Techniques besides competitions among the students 
A workshop on MADHUBANI paintings was also organised to familiarize the students with the local art of the region.
